The Necromancer's Demands Part II
Tayler the Wanderer and It ran from
the cursed barn as fast as they could. When they stopped to take a break, Tayler
the Wanderer had a talk with It. "We are running low on food, It" said Tayler, "So I am going to have to eat your share of lemcrambis." "I guess it's back to eating dirt and rocks." said It. |
They were walking along when they saw something scuttle into a nearby cave. The adventurers walked up to the cave entrance. A pitiful creature of a man hissed at them. "What be you?" inquired Tayler. "My name is Tugnug. I was sent by the Necromancer to waylay you, but I was too scared because you guys have sticks. I decided to follow you instead." said Tugnug. |
"You will journey with us now and you will carry the baggage." said Tayler the Wanderer, "Beware, if you cause us any harm, I shall throw you down a black chasm from whence you'll never return hither." |
The Trio journeyed toward Dragon Bone Lake. |
"I am getting hungry." said Tugnug. "Me too, master" grumbled It. "Then find something to eat fools!" exclaimed Tayler, "There are always dead creatures by the road." |
"Yay, meats!" exclaimed Tugnug and It. "There you go, a shrew, smashed by at least a dozen ox carts." said Tayler, "This should abide you two for now." |
"The air feels weird, it is almost as
if it were snuffy but very clear at the same time, we must be drawing near to
the Dragon Bone Lake." said Tayler the Wanderer. "Sorry Sir, that half a shrew that I ate is giving me gas in my bowels." said Tugnug. |
"Here it is, the Dragon Bone Lake, we have already journeyed 40 leagues to get to here. This is the resting place of over a thousand dragons. Do not touch the water with your skin, it has strange magical powers from the dragon bones and will melt your skin all the way to the bone!" exclaimed Tayler. |
"Alright, we must go out on this tree
and get some water from the lake and put it in this special flask that was given
to me by the Necromancer." said Tayler, "It, you go first to test out the branch
and see if it is safe." "Yes master" said It. |
"Tugnug, stay at the end otherwise this branch will break under all the weight." said Tayler the Wanderer. |
"But I want to come out with you
guys!" exclaimed the portly Tugnug. "No you fat turd, get back, or were all doomed!" shouted Tayler. |
"Master, the branch is breaking." said
It. "Shut your mouth up and get the water!" yelled Tayler. "I gots the water." said It, "I am parched, may I have a drink of it?." "No you fool!!" screamed Tayler, "It will melt you and I don't want to go through this whole ordeal again!" |
The branch broke off just as It leapt off of it. "That was close." said Tayler, "I almost lost you and that would've been bad because then I would have to carry my luggage." "Yes master, if I had fallen, then I wouldn't be able to carry your luggage." said It sarcastically. "We now have two of the three things the Necromancer demanded." said Tayler the Wanderer, "Now we need to get the green egg from the bog of Southfarwich." |
So they journeyed ever on, ever nearing the bog. |
"Hey It," whispered Tugnug,"Tayler has been acting kind of funny lately, why do you think? Something is very wrong with his face." |
"I don't know, I'll ask him." said It, "Master, why are you acting so funny?" |
"Well, I was bored so I thought it
would be fun to act as dumb as you guys, it is nearly impossible, for you two
are as dumb as rocks." said Tayler. The bumbling trio walked for many days. |
"How come there aren't many people here?" asked It. "A while ago, there was a large battle near here, it was part of the Southfarwich Wars. The devastation was so bad, people just left and never thought of this place again. Now only some old farmers and people too young to remember the carnage live here. I was in a couple of those battles, this place, it brings back bad memories." explained Tayler. "I believe this road passes by one of the enemies' abandoned castles." They walked on. |
"This is the bog at Southfarwich!"
exclaimed Tayler, "It is said that an age ago, a mythical beast resided here and
terrorized the local villages. This went on for many years, but one day, a witch
was walking on this very road when the beast tried to eat her. The witch was
very angry and turned the beast into a green egg. It is said that he who carries
the egg, carries the beast's power." "Is that true, master?" asked It. "I'm not sure." said Tayler, "I thought that story was cool." |
"It, be a good piece of property and
fetch the green egg from the bog." "Yes master." said It. "While your in there, take a bath." said Tayler. |
"Hurray!" the wanderers exclaimed. "We now have the final magical item that the Necromancer demanded." said Tayler, "Now we must journey back to the Necromancer and give these items to him so he will give my sword back." |
The travelers walked for a couple days
when they saw a large dark castle in the distance. "Be Wary!" exclaimed Tayler the Wanderer, "That is the castle Darkmort." |
"Many years ago, I raided the castle
and freed the captives from the Southfarwich Wars. My friend Kranc was one of
them. Unfortunately, he didn't survive the escape." said Tayler. "Let us speed
past this place." "Keep your distance." |
They journeyed many days without any
food. "There isn't any critters to eat on this road." said Tugnug. "You are right, said Tayler the Wanderer, "This road is rarely traveled by cart." |
They heard a ruckus in the woods, but they didn't pay any attention to it. |
Suddenly, a queer looking goblin
appeared from the woods. "Gooble-gabba-gibble-bibble, take these wretched boots off of my hands. I promise you I won't eat your bones." said the distraught goblin. "Don't trust him master, goblins never tell the truth." said It. "Your right It." said Tayler, "He smells funny, let us keep moving." "Boom-Bang-Bidang, I will get revenge." said the goblin. |
Tugnug and It started talking softly when Tayler wasn't near them. They planned something insidious. |
"Hey you two, stay close so I can here
what you are talking about." said Tayler, "I have enough to worry about and I
don't want to have to worry about a mutiny. Besides, I can't protect you two if
you are far away from me." "Now It. Now is the time to do my plan." whispered Tugnug. "No Tugnug, I like my master and I won't do it." said It. They travelers made camp near a stream. |
That night, Tugnug was angered that It
wouldn't go through with his plan, so Tugnug threw that pouch of magic powder
that was meant to waylay Tayler the Wanderer onto It. It was sucked into a
darkness and into a different place. Tayler the Wanderer eventually found It, but that is a whole different story. |
As if by coincidence, the goblin with
boots stuck on his hands came by and stomped Tugnug out of existence. The goblin ran away before Tayler the Wanderer could smite him down. He heard a, "gibby-dibby-snot-poo, I have my revenge!" way off in the distance. |
Alone once again and without a pack,
Tayler slowly made his way back to the Necromancer's Tower. He was hardly a furlong away from the tower when something in the ditch caught his eye. |
"My Sword!" screamed Tayler the Wanderer. |
"Come here Baby." *Smooch* |
Tayler the Wanderer cleaned his sword and strapped it to his belt. |
Once his euphoria had passed, Tayler the Wanderer had to go have a little chat with the Necromancer. |
Tayler the Wanderer walked up to the tower and bashed on the doors. He yelled for the Necromancer, calling him many unwritable things. |
"Who goes there? Oh, its that fool." said the Necromancer. |
"Why was my sword in the ditch?" asked Tayler. |
"Umm, I will tell you." said the Necromancer, "I got bored a few days after you left on my task I had for you, so I threw your sword away." |
"Then why did you send me on that quest to get you those things of magic if you threw away my precious sword?" inquired Tayler, "I journeyed for 4 months, people, good people, died, for nothing! Do you even remember what I was supposed to get?" |
"Uhh, umm, hmm? There was some magical things." said the confused Necromancer, "I remember now, I named off a bunch of things that are impossible to get so that you would never return to bother me again. I assumed that you would die, so I threw your sword in the ditch." |
"I tire of this conversation now, be off with you before I turn you into a trogg or something." said the Necromancer. |
Tayler the Wanderer had fulfilled his
quest. He walked a few miles and went atop a small hill and triumphantly held up
his reclaimed sword. He vowed to one day to get revenge on the Necromancer for
causing him so much trouble and making him lose two traveling companions. Maybe he will use the magical items he collected to help him vanquish the Necromancer. |
Tune in next month for another exciting adventure! |
